Khost, Paktia and Paktika see rise in domestic tourism

KHOST (SW) – Domestic tourism is on the rise in Khost, Paktia and Paktika province with the relative peace following the rise to power of the Taliban’s Islamic Emirate.

Residents of these southeastern provinces say that the number of people visiting the recreational areas and natural forests here has increased following the improvement of the security situation in the country. A number of young people in Paktia, Paktika and Khost provinces go to places for leisure where they could not go to due to insecurity in the past, said the locals.

Young people who have come to these recreational areas say that once the security situation in the country improves, they will be able to tour safely and with a sense of security all over Afghanistan. According to Khost residents, the areas of Musa Khel, Zazi Maidan and Qalandar districts, as well as Farma Bagh and Milma Khot districts, are places in the province where people go for leisure.

Paktika also has recreational areas that have attracted the attention of many young people.

As in the past, Paktia residents go to lush green areas in the Zazi Ariob, Janikhel, Petan, Samakani and Gardez districts for recreation.

Officials at the Islamic Emirate in the southeastern part of the country say citizens can safely go and visit recreational areas they have not yet visited.

Khaleqyar Ahmadzai, Paktia’s director of information and culture, says the Islamic Emirate provides security for all tourists.
