President Ghani says Afghanistan not in a state of collapse

KABUL (SW) – Following the US announcement of troop’s withdrawal, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has said Afghanistan is not in a state of collapse as the security and defense forces are capable of defending their country independently.

According to a statement issued by the presidential palace, President Ghain made these remarks on Thursday speaking online at the Ganjavi International Military Center.

He emphasized at the meeting that the country’s security and defense forces have been conducting 94% of the operations independently for several years now. According to the statement, President Ghani reiterated that the Government of Afghanistan respects the recent decision of the President of the United States to withdraw its troops from Afghanistan and is working to implement this process.

The President said that in order to manage the crisis caused by terrorism and criminal networks, cooperation with Afghanistan must continue. He said in part of his speech that the Taliban will either accept peace or continue to fight. At the same time, he said a peaceful and free of violence Afghanistan is in favor of the countries of the region, including Pakistan.

About his peace plan, he said the roadmap he has prepared for peace in Afghanistan is based on three pillars including ceasefire, ensuring lasting and fair peace and holding elections. He added that in order to achieve peace, he is ready to hold early elections before the end of his presidency.

Meanwhile, the Taliban while welcoming the US decision to withdraw its troops from Afghanistan blamed Washington of breaching the Doha deal.
