Police officer caught selling arms to Taliban

 

DAIKUNDI (SW) – A police officer has been taken into custody on charge of supplying arms and ammunition to the Taliban insurgents in Daikundi province.

Member of the provincial council, Ghairat Ali Jawahiri, told Salam Watandar the National Directorate of Security arrested the suspected officer red-handed. He charged the suspected officer of ‘treason’, and added this was the first incident of the sort in the province.

The provincial head of the NDS, Reza Aslami, has confirmed the report. He said the identity and whereabouts of the suspect have been withheld for the sake of the dignity of the police force.

The provincial police directorate declined to comment on the matter.
