3 suspects arrested in connection with murder of FEFA chief

KABUL (SW) – The interior ministry on Saturday claimed to have arrested three men in connection with the killing of Yousuf Rasheed, head of the Free and Fair Election Foundation of Afghanistan.

In a social media post, first vice president Amrullah Saleh has said the suspects are ‘directly involved’ in the murder of the FEFA chief.

Meanwhile, Tariq Arian, spokesman for the interior ministry, said a number of other suspects also involved in the murder.

On Dec. 23, last year Mohammad Yousuf Rasheed, executive director of the Free and Fair Election Foundation of Afghanistan, was killed in an assassination attempt in Kabul. A spokesman for the Kabul Police Command, Ferdows Faramarz said that at around 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday, the slain head of the FEFA and his driver were assassinated in the 7th district.

No individual or group claimed responsibility for the attack.
