12 members of a family killed in an airstrike

KANDAHAR (SW) – Reports emerging from Kandahar suggest at least 12 members of a family were killed in an airstrike by security forces in Arghandab district.

The attack is said to have taken place last night  in the Sabz village of Arghandab district.

Abdul Samad, a relative of the affected family, said that three women, two men and seven children from the same family were killed in the airstrike.

Meanwhile, a source in Arghandab district, who did not want to be identified, told Salam Watandar that the attack took place after a Taliban group had gathered near the house. According to the source, the house also collapsed following the attack.

Residents of Arghandab district wished to stage a demonstration along with the bodies of the victims in front of the Kandahar governor’s office, but were stopped by police.

So far, the officials in Kandahar have not commented on the airstrike.
