KABUL (SW) – Vice President Amrullah Saleh claimed on Saturday the main perpetrator behind the deadly assault on the Kabul University has been nabbed.

In a social media post, Saleh identified the architect of the KU carnage as Adel son of Mohammad Arif and resident of Panjshir province. He added the accused had studied for three years at the Sharia faculty of the University before the attack.

It is vital to note that the hours after the attack on Kabul University, the so-called Islamic State or Daesh claimed responsibility for the attack, but the first vice president said that it was a disguise. He said that those who carried out this attack had carried out assaults in the past as well under the flag of Taliban, Hezb-ul-Tehrir and Daesh.

Saleh claimed the detainee has confessed to the attack that was aimed to pressure the government and discredit it.

According to the first vice president, Adel obtained a weapon from the Haqqani Network in Khost province and ordered the attack on Kabul University.

The Taliban have rejected this statement by the VP Saleh.

At least 22 students and teachers were killed and over 40 wounded in this widely condemned attack on Nov. 2.
