Taliban kill 23 security forces in Nimroz

NIMROZ (SW) – A senior government source in Nimroz has said at least 23 security forces got killed in a Taliban attack on an army base in the province.

The source, who did not want to be identified, told Salam Watandar that the incident took place at around 10:00 last night in the Deh Mazang area on the Delaram – Khashroud highway in Nimroz province.

According to the source, 23 army personnel were killed in the attack and 3 others were captured by the Taliban. The source added that the Taliban had taken away all the military equipment with them.

According to the source, the Taliban had attacked the camp several times in recent months in order to seize it, and finally captured it last night.

The source accused army officials and the governor of Nimroz of failing to manage the fighting in the province, saying that reinforcements had not arrived at the base in time.

We could not get the opinion of the security officials in Nimroz in this regard.

But, the Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack via a video.
