Suicide car bombing targets Special Forces’ unit in Khost

KHOST CITY (SW) – A complex suicide car bombing and armed assault on the unit of special police force in Khost has left at least 2 people killed and 23 other wounded, the interior ministry confirmed.

Tariq Arian, spokesman for the interior ministry, said the incident took place early at around 05:50 am when two vehicles loaded with explosives rocked the provincial capital and a third one targeted by the security forces before it could reach its target. He confirmed at least 2 people got killed and 23 others, including 9 civilians got wounded in the attack.

He added four attackers who wished to enter the compound of special forces were killed in shootout.

Talib Mangal, spokesman for the provincial governor, has confirmed that unit of the special forces was the target of this complex assault.

There was no immediate responsibility for the attack.
