Facemasks declared mandatory in public offices

KABUL (SW) – Health authorities on Wednesday declared wearing facemask mandatory in public office amid concerns regarding second wave of the coronavirus.

Akmal Samsor, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health, told a press conference that this new regulation would apply on all officials and visitors in public offices. He said this move was proposed by the health ministry and approved by the cabinet of ministers.

The regulation directs that no one would be allowed entry in public offices without the facial mask in a bid to stop the Covid-19 from spreading.

Samsor further said wearing face masks has also become mandatory for all health workers in public and private health centers across the country.

This comes amid an evident surge in coronavirus cases in the western Herat province. Bases of the latest official figures, out of 318 samples tested for the novel virus in the past 24 hours, some 66 proved positive.
