The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has reported that the Earth’s climate has reached its most critical level in history.

Today (Monday, March 23), on the occasion of World Meteorological Day, the organization stated that the increase in greenhouse gas concentrations has caused severe warming of the atmosphere and oceans, as well as the melting of ice. These rapid and widespread changes could have harmful consequences for hundreds or even thousands of years.

According to the WMO report, 2015 to 2025 have been the warmest years in the past 11 years of recorded history, and 2025 has been recorded as the second or third warmest year.

Meanwhile, Secretary-General of the UN, Antonio Guterres, said that the global climate situation is in a state of emergency, and every major climate indicator is issuing a warning.

Guterres added that climate change has caused the most severe weather events, including extreme heat, tropical storms, heavy rainfall, and floods, affecting millions of people and causing billions of dollars in damage.

The WMO has warned that climate change could have long-term impacts.

The organization also stated that this year’s World Meteorological Day, with the slogan Observe Today, Protect Tomorrow, emphasizes the importance of addressing this issue.

March 23 is celebrated annually as World Meteorological Day to raise public awareness about the importance of weather forecasting and climate change.
