A clothing and handicraft factory named “Almas” (Diamond) has been inaugurated in Afghanistan’s Parwan province, providing job opportunities for women.
Obaidullah Rahmani, head of industrial parks at the Parwan Directorate of Industry and Commerce, said that the factory was established in the village of Ishqabad in the Jabal al-Saraj district.
He added that the launch of this factory has created training and employment opportunities for 150 women, who will learn tailoring, tablecloth embroidery, and other handicrafts.
According to Rahmani, the factory was founded by a group of women entrepreneurs, with an investment exceeding 200,000 afghanis.
Fazila Sadat, the director of Almas factory, shared that she established it with limited resources and the help of several women.
“Due to economic difficulties, we currently rely on manual tools. Our first order was for tablecloths from the United States, which have already been exported,” she said.
Since the rise of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan, many women and girls have turned to small businesses as a means of sustaining their livelihoods.
