HERAT CITY (SW) – Officials at the Avison Pharma pharmaceutical factory in Herat report that the facility has produced 130 different types of medicine to date.
Abdul Karim Shirzad, the factory’s director, stated that these medicines include solid, liquid, and injectable forms, and are distributed to all provinces across Afghanistan.
Shirzad further noted that the factory currently employs 100 people directly.
Additionally, Mohammad Nasir Amin, head of the Herat Pharmaceutical Sellers Union, revealed that there are 15 pharmaceutical factories in the province, collectively supplying 30% of the country’s medicine needs.
Previously, the Ministry of Public Health under the Islamic Emirate, reported that there are more than 95 pharmaceutical factories operating in the country. However, a significant portion of the medicines needed by citizens still has to be imported from abroad.
