Officials from the Ministry of National Defense of the de-facto government in Afghanistan report that forces of the Islamic Emirate have carried out retaliatory attacks on several locations across the Durand Line.
Enayatullah Khwarazmi, the spokesperson for the ministry, states that Islamic Emirate forces from southeastern Afghanistan attacked several centers and hideouts of “malicious elements and their supporters” across the Durand Line, which had been used for organizing attacks in Afghanistan.
He added: “Several points beyond the line, including centers and hideouts of malicious elements and their supporters from which attacks were organized in Afghanistan, have been attacked in retaliation from the southeastern region of the country.”
Local sources in Khost province claim that following an airstrike by Pakistani fighter jets in the Barmal district of Paktika, Islamic Emirate border forces and Pakistani military personnel clashed at 3:30 a.m near the Durand Line in Khost and Paktia provinces.
Sources in Paktia report that during the clash, several mortar shells fired by Pakistan struck the Dand Patan district of the province, killing three civilians and injuring two others.
According to local sources from Khost and Paktia, no casualties were reported among the Islamic Emirate forces, while Pakistani forces reportedly suffered greater losses.
Meanwhile, several political analysts emphasize that the security concerns between Afghanistan and Pakistan should be addressed through diplomatic means to reduce tensions.
Aziz Stanekzai, a political analyst, says that both sides must resolve their issues through dialogue. “Problems should be solved through engagement and discussions; those who want to intentionally create conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan must be isolated.”
Yosuf Amin Zazai, another political expert, says, “The people of both countries don’t want war; the people of Pakistan and Afghanistan must decide, and the international community should assist. What the people of both countries want should be heard by their governments, as this is the only solution.”
These tensions escalated after Pakistani fighter jets targeted parts of the Barmal district in Paktika province of Afghanistan last Tuesday night that killed 50 people and left more than 40 others injured including women and children.
