10.5 mln people in Afghanistan supported by WFP in 2024

MONITORING (SW) – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has provided assistance to 10.5 million people in Afghanistan in the year 2024.

In a statement on its X account, the organization said that this aid included both cash and food supplies.

The WFP added that the assistance has helped feed children, strengthen the local economy, and empower communities.

According to the WFP, this support has been made possible with the backing of Sweden and Germany.

This is while a number of vulnerable people in Kabul and several provinces are reporting that they are unable to afford basic needs of life like food and fuel.

Previously, UN agencies had reported that more than 23 million people in Afghanistan are in need of humanitarian aid this year.
