KABUL (SW) – A group of innovative youths from various provinces of Afghanistan say they face economic challenges in bringing their ideas for variety of mechanical devices into reality.
Seylon, a 22-year-old man from Maidan Wardak, has created a small radio device with limited resources. He believes that with more support, he could develop advanced radios.
“We lack the resources. If someone assists us and provides us with the necessary tools, we can create powerful radios capable of broadcasting programs across all provinces,” Seylon said.
Saber Razaie, a resident of Kabul, has completed the design of a vehicle but cannot implement it due to financial constraints. “I have assembled a motorcycle and also created a dynamo that generates electricity using magnets. I completed the motorcycle in 45 days and funded it myself.”
Hayatullah, another Kabul resident, claims to have constructed nearly 35 different agricultural and military tools. He emphasizes the need for the de-facto government support for innovative youths to become self-sufficient in tool production. “We hope the government provides resources and support for young innovators.”
Tawakal Khan, who has built a drone with minimal resources, says that with additional backing, he could create a more advanced version. “The drone I have assembled can fly up to two kilometers. Our main issue is the lack of resources; we do not have access to advanced technological tools, which complicates the completion of our projects.”
These young innovators are calling on the de-facto government and international organizations to provide them with the necessary tools for their work.
In response, Mohammad Osman Almas, spokesperson for the Technical and Vocational Education Authority, mentions that they have purchased nearly two million afghanis worth of technical equipment to support innovative projects.
“This year, we have acquired equipment valued at nearly two million afghanis for our innovation center, which will aid in implementing the projects of young innovators,” he said.
While these innovative youths seek the necessary resources for their work, the Technical and Vocational Education Authority assures that they are signing memorandums of understanding with sectoral organizations to procure the tools they need.
