KABUL (SW) – Officials from the de-facto Ministry of Interior Affairs have recently announced that, based on a decree from Sirajuddin Haqqani, the acting minister, a committee has been established to raise awareness among deep well owners about the dangers of falling into them.
Bismillah Habib, the deputy spokesperson for the ministry said that committee members will travel to provinces to encourage well owners to properly cover their wells.
He emphasized that “the committee aims to inform owners of the risks associated with the wells and to advise them to secure their wellheads in order to prevent falling incidents”.
Habib stressed that legal action will be taken against individuals who disregard these recommendations.
He also noted that several incidents of falling into deep wells have been reported, especially in the southern provinces.
The establishment of this committee comes in the wake of a tragic incident in Ghazni, where four men lost their lives while attempting to rescue a child trapped in a well, and the child also lost his life.
