WHO delivers 20 tons of medical supplies to Afghanistan

MONITORING (SW) – The World Health Organization (WHO) in Afghanistan has announced a significant aid shipment to the country, providing 20 tons of medicine and medical equipment.

According to the WHO office, this aid has been dispatched to 11 healthcare centers and 12 hospitals across five Northern provinces.

It further mentioned that the medical equipment includes TESK, Cholera kits, Pneumonia kits, Measles kits, operation and dressing sets.

Late on Sunday, WHO stated in a newsletter on its X account that this assistance will facilitate access to medical services for 4,000 patients.

Earlier this year, the organization had also contributed medical supplies and medications worth $4.4 million to 25 hospitals in Afghanistan.

The Afghanistan healthcare sector remains heavily reliant on international aid.

Over the past three years, the Ministry of Public Health has repeatedly called on countries and global organizations, especially the WHO, to support the delivery of medical services in remote areas.
