KABUL (SW) – Officials from the de-facto Ministry of National Defense (MoND) under the ruling of the Islamic Emirate stated on Wednesday, that the “conquest of Afghanistan” has resulted in comprehensive nationwide security.
During the annual performance review press conference held in Kabul, Mohammad Qasem Farid, Deputy Minister of Policy and Strategy, noted a significant reduction in combat activities and reported that civilian casualties have nearly reached zero throughout the country.
He highlighted that the past year has seen full transparency in financial, administrative, and logistical processes due to reforms in these areas.
Further more, officials from the MoND said that over the last year, the armed forces have dismantled a total of 1,383 landmines.
According to them, numerous military units and events, bases, and security posts have been established to protect the country’s borders and prevent security incidents.
Mohammad Fasihuddin Fetrat, Chief of Staff of the de-facto government’s army, reported that the military has conducted 813,352 operational missions. “These operations resulted in the confiscation of 588 light weapons, 60 heavy weapons, 1,515 kilograms of explosives, 239 hand grenades, 44 communication devices, 40 surveillance cameras, 386 vehicles, and 1,982 motorcycles.”
The Ministry of Defense officials emphasized their commitment to safeguarding national values and sovereignty, supporting security and law enforcement, collaborating with sectoral agencies, addressing victims of natural disasters, and ensuring coordination with national defense and security entities.
They mentioned major activities of the past year, including the revision of six fundamental documents and their submission to the Ministry of Justice, as well as, the review of 54 policies and procedures aimed at reorganizing the ministry’s structures and related sectors.
Fetrat also addressed concerns regarding the presence of armed militant groups in Afghanistan and ongoing violations of Afghan airspace. He dismissed Pakistan’s worries, saying that the country has yet to provide any evidence of the presence of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) members within Afghanistan.
While not specifying any countries, Fetrat noted that efforts are underway to prevent airspace violations through diplomatic means. He assured that the Islamic Emirate will soon have full control over Afghanistan’s airspace.
“In the past years, our airspace was frequently violated. Efforts have been made through diplomatic channels to prevent this. The Ministry of Defense is also working towards bringing our airspace under our control soon,” Fetrat said.
Additionally, the Ministry of Defense officials assured that they are working on equipping and supplying their forces. Over the past year, 165 contracts have been signed for military supplies.
They also revealed plans to import advanced equipment and weapons from foreign countries to further enhance the capabilities of the Islamic Emirate’s army.
