KABUL (SW) – The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has announced that Afghanistan had a trade exchange worth 10 billion dollars in the past one year.
Officials of the ministry said during the accountability program that in the past one year, Afghanistan had exports worth 1.8 billion dollars and imports worth more than 8 billion dollars.
According to the MoCI figures, last year, Afghanistan’s exports to Kazakhstan increased by 2.5%, to China by 16%, to Iran by 19%, to Turkey by 53%, and to Russia by 54%.
The ministry officials added that during this period, 10 agreements for creating trade and transit facilities with regional and trans-regional countries have also been finalized.
According to the statistics provided by MoCI, in the past year, more than 646 thousands of people have been directly employed and more than 4.4 million people have been indirectly employed through the empowerment of small and medium businesses and the signing of contracts.
