KABUL (SW) – Spokesperson for the de-facto government Zabihullah Mujahid stated on Saturday, that the Islamic Emirate delegation will participate in the Doha meeting to address issues related to constructive and positive engagement between the United Nations and its member states with Afghanistan, aiming for comprehensive improvement and stability in the country.
Mujahid said in a press conference in Kabul, “We are attending the Doha meeting for understanding and resolving current issues, and we seek the engagement of all countries with Afghanistan. We aim to address and resolve matters related to positive and constructive engagement with the United Nations and other countries.”
Mujahid emphasized that the Doha meeting presents a valuable opportunity to address Afghanistan’s problems, noting that in this round of talks, no major or key discussions will occur, but rather, messages will be exchanged between the Islamic Emirate and other countries.
In response to concerns and complaints about the absence of civil society and Afghan women representatives in the third Doha meeting, Mujahid explained that the presence of multiple Afghan representatives in international meetings could indicate fragmentation and pave the way for conspiracies. Hence, only a single representative from Afghanistan will attend this meeting.
“The Islamic Emirate’s position is that no one other than representatives of the Islamic Emirate should attend this meeting. The presence of multiple Afghan representatives from different backgrounds in international meetings indicates fragmentation and implies that the nation is not united, creating opportunities for interference,” he added.
According to Mujahid, women’s rights to education and work are internal matters for Afghanistan and will be addressed through practical steps within the country.
The first day of this round of the Doha conference will take place on Sunday, June 30, hosted by the United Nations in Qatar, to discuss Afghanistan. A six-member delegation from Afghanistan, led by Islamic Emirate’s spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid, will attend the meeting.
