BAMYAN (SW) – Recent devastating floods in Bamyan province have claimed the lives of at least seven people, with another 10 reported missing.
Abdul Saboor Farzan Seighani, spokesperson for the Bamyan governor, revealed that destructive flash floods swept through the region on Tuesday, in the villages of Duzdan Cheshma, Hazarcheshma, and Pudinatu in Yakaolang district number 1.
He said that those missing belong to two families, and search operations are ongoing to locate them.
According to the governor’s office, approximately 35 livestock have also perished because of the floods.
The province of Bamyan, known for its mountainous terrain, often experiences such natural disasters, exacerbating challenges for local communities and authorities in their rescue and recovery efforts.
