KABUL (SW) – Zaker Jalali, the third deputy of political affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the de-facto government, has said suitable conditions are in place to attend the forthcoming Doha conference.
In a post on X, he emphasized that the Islamic Emirate, similar to its engagements with neighboring and regional countries, also advocates constructive interaction with Western countries.
He stated that unlike previous Doha meetings, conditions have been conducive for the participation of the Islamic Emirate’s representatives.
Discussions during this meeting will cover issues related to the private sector, finance, banking, and combating drugs, he mentioned.
“This time, unlike the previous Doha meetings, conditions have been favorable for the presence of Afghanistan’s government delegation; however, it remains to be seen in less than ten days how developments related to this meeting will unfold,” said Jalali.
Jalali added that the Islamic Emirate, in consultation and collaboration with the United Nations, has decided to send a delegation to the Doha meeting. It is unclear at what level Afghanistan will participate in this session.
The United Nations announced nearly a month ago that the upcoming Doha meeting aims to enhance constructive global engagement with Afghanistan.
The third meeting of special representatives of countries for Afghanistan, hosted by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, is scheduled to take place on June 30 and July 1.
