IE supports China’s investments, economic projects in Afghanistan

KABUL (SW) – The Ministry of National Defense of the Islamic Emirate has announced that a meeting and discussion has been held between Mohammad Yaqub Mujahid, the acting Minister of Defense, and Zhao Sheng, the Chinese Ambassador to Kabul.

The meeting took place on Friday, at the office of the DM, the ministry stated on its official X account.

During the discussion, Yaqub Mujahid hailed the diplomatic relations, trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

He said, “Afghanistan and China have clear commonalities; while strengthening and preserving the relations between the two neighboring countries, we support China’s investments and economic projects in Afghanistan and reassure them of ensuring their security once again.”

Following the meeting, the Chinese Ambassador to Kabul considered the consolidation of overall security in Afghanistan as a good opportunity for economic and trade cooperation.

“China continues its historical relations with Afghanistan with a policy of non-interference, and is aligned and synchronized in trade, economic, and other matters,” Zhao Sheng said.

The Ministry of National Defense added that the two sides also discussed border issues and the Wakhan corridor project.
