Tripartite trade summit in Kabul to boost regional connectivity

KABUL (SW) – A tripartite trade summit between Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan is set to take place in Kabul city on Thursday, April 25.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the Islamic Emirate, Akhundzada Abdul Salam Javad, states, “The tripartite summit between Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan is convened with the aim of enhancing regional connectivity and promoting trade and transit among these countries.”

Meanwhile, several economic experts consider the convening of this summit crucial for improving and expanding economic activities among these nations.

Sayed Ahmad Masoud, an economic expert, emphasized the importance of the Islamic Emirate utilizing the summit for economic gains in Afghanistan.

He said, “This is a significant opportunity for the people of Afghanistan, Afghanistan’s market, and its governance to capitalize on and create new opportunities. It can lead to a new regional convergence based on these newfound opportunities.”

Another economic expert, Shaker Yaqubi, highlighted the role of tripartite summits in strengthening trade and increasing trade volumes between Central Asia and Afghanistan.

He said, “Tripartite summit between Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan play a vital role in strengthening trade and increasing trade volumes between Central Asia and Afghanistan. It is hoped that Afghanistan’s interests will be addressed in these summits, and necessary attention will be given to binding agreements. If Afghanistan approaches these diplomatic meetings with diligence, it stands to gain greater benefits.”

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry reported that on Tuesday, a high-level delegation from Turkmenistan has arrived in Kabul.

This delegation aims to continue discussions initiated between the Islamic Emirate and Turkmenistan for the development of trade and transit.
