MoJ halts activities of political parties, charitable and social orgs in Afghanistan

KABUL (SW) – In the past year, the activities of two political parties and 75 charitable organizations and social associations have been halted by the Ministry of Justice due to illegal activities.

Barkatullah Rasuli, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice of the Islamic Emirate says that in 2023, after reviewing the activities of these institutions and parties, their officials have been referred to security agencies.

He told Salam Watandar that after investigations by the ministry, the activities of 19 charitable organizations have been suspended due to the timely non-renewal of their licenses.

Rasuli further emphasized that the aim of this decision by the Ministry of Justice of the de-facto government is to prevent illegal activities, and therefore, it oversees the activities of all associations throughout the country.

“No political or social organization has the right to operate in Afghanistan,” Rasuli said.

Officials of the Ministry of Justice of the Islamic Emirate had previously declared the activities of political parties in Afghanistan illegal.
