KABUL (SW) – The World Bank has announced that under the new approach of this bank, to support Afghans, the work of the CASA-1000 electricity transmission project will be resumed in Afghanistan.
The World Bank has said in a statement that the board of executive directors of the bank approved a new adjusted approach to support the Afghan citizens on Thursday.
It is also stated that the work of the Casa-1000 project will be resumed at the request of the three neighboring countries of Afghanistan to mitigate the risk of it becoming a “wandering asset”.
Casa-1000 is a project to transfer electricity from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan through Afghanistan.
According to the World Bank, the work of the CASA-1000 project in three other countries is almost done, and only Afghanistan remains.
The construction of this CASA-1000 project in Afghanistan was stopped after the establishment of the Islamic Emirate in the country.
