KABUL (SW) – Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a meeting with Roza Otunbayeva, the head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), and her accompanying delegation on Saturday.
Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, mentioned on the social media platform X that during the meeting, the two sides deliberated on the recent diplomatic developments of the de-facto government, the upcoming Doha meeting, Sinirlioglu’s report, the UN coordinator for Afghanistan, and other relevant issues.
“In the beginning, the Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated the position of the Islamic Emirate regarding UN Security Council Resolution 2721 and emphasized the constructive interaction between the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the United Nations.”
During this meeting, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs sought further clarification from UNAMA regarding the agenda and composition of the upcoming Doha meeting.
He stated, “The Islamic Emirate will decide on the participation of the delegation in light of these explanations.”
Otunbayeva also shared information about the upcoming meeting in Doha and requested the participation of the Islamic Emirate’s delegation in this gathering.
According to reports, the Doha meeting on Afghanistan is scheduled to take place on the 18th and 19th of February, with representatives from various countries expected to attend.
