Kabul hosts first regional contact group meeting on Afghanistan

KABUL (SW) – The first meeting of the regional contact group on Afghanistan is scheduled to take place in Kabul on Monday, with the participation of representatives from various regional countries.

The Embassy of Afghanistan in Beijing has reported that Bilal Karimi discussed pertinent issues in a meeting with Mao Ming, the deputy of the Asian department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.

The statement added 

During the meeting, Mao Ming assured the continuation of China’s cooperation with the de-facto government of Afghanistan, the statement added.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate has not yet provided details regarding this meeting.

Mohammad-Zalami Afghanyar Pupal, a political expert, believes that the upcoming meeting will provide an opportunity for participating countries to directly express their concerns to the Islamic Emirate, fostering a platform for finding solutions.

“With the continuation of the current situation, and with the policies of the current government, organizing these meetings will be more beneficial to the countries, so we hope that the necessary changes will be made in the entire structure as suggested by the people of Afghanistan,” said Najiburahman Shamal, another political expert.

Prior to this announcement, Sayed Rasul Musawi, the Director General of South Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, confirmed the convening of this meeting. He emphasized that the meeting underscores the significance of Afghanistan’s stability and peace to the countries in the region.

The regional contact group to address issues related to Afghanistan has been initiated through the collaborative efforts of Iran.
