KABUL (SW) – Amir Khan Muttaqi, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the de-facto government, expressed support for the Palestinians in their conflict with Israel during a conference in Tehran, Iran.
He characterized the Palestinian combat as a “Sharia” matter based on religious teachings and urged Islamic countries to play a more impactful role in ending the killing of Palestinians.
He added: “there is still a need for more countries in the region to take action to stop the indiscriminate killing of the oppressed Palestinian people. These efforts should continue until the Palestine’s issue is resolved permanently and justly. A solution that will result in the Palestinians having a government that will be established in the historical land of Palestine.”
However, political experts suggest that Iran aims to gain political advantages of the presence of the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs from the de-facto government. They have expressed concerns about the political situation in Afghanistan, contending that the statements made by the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs could escalate tensions in relations between the Islamic Emirate and Western countries.
Aziz Stanekzai, a political expert, deems the remarks of the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs to have detrimental consequences for the future of Afghanistan.
He says: “Islamic Emirate is still not recognized and the aid is limited, and their representative is not allowed to attend any meeting. For such a country, these statements of the Acting Foreign Minister are not free of future problems for Afghanistan, and these create controversy in themselves.”
Yusuf Amin Zazi, another political expert, asserts that Amir Khan Muttaqi’s comments will not only hinder the removal of Islamic Emirate officials from the sanctions list, but may also lead to the inclusion of additional officials from the Islamic Emirate on that list.
“These statements by the State Department chief condemn Israeli attacks and increase sanctions on the Islamic Emirate, which will be seen by the people to make the sound more silent,” he added.
The Islamic Emirate, backed by the support of Palestinian residents, has previously criticized the international community for its perceived silence regarding the killings of Palestinians.10:13
