“We need a peaceful and stable Afghanistan”

KABUL (SW) – The President of Uzbekistan has emphasized that the region needs a peaceful and stable Afghanistan that actively participates in the process of economic cooperation with all its neighbors.

Shaukat Mirziyoyev, the president of Uzbekistan, in his speech at the meeting of the leaders of the “Organization of Turkic States” held in the city of Astana, Kazakhstan, demanded not to forget the situation of the neighbor (Afghanistan) in the background of other international conflicts.

He added: “Establishing peace and tranquility in the multi-ethnic land of Afghanistan, whose history and destiny is closely related to the Turkish people for thousands of years, is the main condition for ensuring stability and strategic security in our region. However, in the current situation where conflicts and wars are increasing in other parts of the world, this problem is increasingly absent from the attention of the international community.”

He noted: “We call for the development of specific mechanisms aimed at solving acute social problems in this country, rather than undermining the delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan.
We need a peaceful and stable Afghanistan that actively participates in the processes of regional participation and economic cooperation with all its neighbors.”

He said the Trans-Afghan Railway initiative that serves this noble purpos and in this way, Uzbekistan will continue to provide the necessary assistance to the people of Afghanistan.

The President of Uzbekistan said: “We will actively continue to provide humanitarian aid through the logistics center in Tirmaz and train Afghan citizens in the training center.”
