Uzbekistan pledges to facilitate trade ties with Afghanistan

KABUL (SW) – The visiting trade delegation of Uzbekistan has meet with top Islamic Emirate officials in Kabul.

Abdul Ghani Baradar, the economic deputy prime minister, met with the delegation of Uzbekistan headed by Jamshid Khajeyov, the deputy prime minister of Uzbekistan. Officials from the ministeries of agriculture, energy, water management, mines and transportation as well as representatives of various sectors also joined, said an officialstatement.

In this meeting, in addition to commercial, transit and economic relations, there were comprehensive discussions about railways, transportation, technical mining in Afghanistan, water management, agricultural development, and providing higher education for Afghan youth in different sectors in Uzbekistan.

According to the newsletter, Abdul Ghani Baradar said in this meeting that Afghanistan and Uzbekistan have been neighbors and friends throughout history and have always cooperated with each other in security, political and economic fields. According to Mr. Baradar, the visit of the high-ranking delegations of the two countries shows that the bilateral relations between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan are developing further.

The statement added that the Islamic Emirate, based on its economy-oriented foreign policy, wants to play a supportive role in the transit trade in the region. “.

The economic deputy of the Prime Minister’s Office has emphasized that Afghanistan uses the routes of Uzbekistan for the purpose of trade and transit to Central Asian countries, and in this route, the transit cost of Afghanistan’s cargo is higher compared to other routes, which Afghanistan wants to reduce.

Abdul Ghani Baradar stated: “In order for Afghanistan and Uzbekistan to have a balanced trade, it is good for Afghanistan’s exports to Uzbekistan to increase significantly, and in this regard, Uzbekistan should consider special preferential tariffs for Afghanistan and in some cases ise cases of exceptional friendly interaction.”

Meanwhile, Jamshid Khajeyov, the deputy prime minister of Uzbekistan, also said in this meeting that regarding the increase of Afghanistan’s exports to Uzbekistan, the Uzbekistan side has prepared a plan and a plan based on which the amount of trade between the two countries will rise to about three billion dollars.

The deputy prime minister of Uzbekistan added that they have created the necessary facilities for Afghan businessmen and drivers to obtain visas, and in the near future they will open an international exhibition for Afghan products in Tashkent, the capital of this Uzbekistan, and in the same way, a large commercial center will be opened in Tirmaz.

Abdul Ghani Baradar appreciated the humanitarian assistance of Uzbekistan to the earthquake victims in Herat and emphasized on increasing bilateral cooperation.
