Also, two more cases of this type of acute violence have occurred among Afghan immigrant families in Pakistan and one case among Afghan immigrant families in Canada.

Based on these findings, the reason and motivation of 70 of these events have been determined, of which 44 are family violence, 7 are illicit relationships, 5 are theft, 3 are psychological problems, 3 are verbal arguments, and 3 are forced marriages, one case of sexual assault, one case due to the intention of sexual assault, one case unintentionally, one case based on personal enmity and another case due to the vagueness of the immigration file in Pakistan; But the reason for the other 103 of these events is said to be mysterious.

The cases of murder and suicide of women have increased while psychologists and sociologists consider the restrictions imposed on women and the closing of schools and universities to girls as the main reason for the increase in cases of murder and suicide of women. They say that the level of despair among women has caused an increase in women’s suicide.

Zia Nikzad, a sociologist, said the restrictions imposed on women in Afghanistan by the Islamic Emirate can be a reason. “Because many women believed that after this they can play an active role in social, political and cultural activities. Each of these girls had a dream for the future.”

Kokba Nawab, a psychologist, said: “When a person’s life hopes end and a person thinks that I can no longer continue my life, my hopes are ended, my dreams are buried, and this is the main factor. It was closing the doors of schools and universities.”

However, a number of women’s defense lawyers also mention family violence, forced marriages, and women’s work ban as the reason for the increase in women’s murders and suicides. They say that in the republican system, it is also the evidence of the case.

“Mysterious murders have increased in Afghanistan,” says Ayman Basmel, a lawyer who defended women in the Republican regime. “Unfortunately, the cause and factors and what it looks like are not investigated, ” she said

Fazela Mansouri, another lawyer who defends women, said: “The reason for the suicides and the reason for these murders in the country at the moment is that this government prevents women from working outside, they are forbidden to study, it has prevented all woman from learning.”

In addition, a number of human rights defenders also consider the reason for the increase in murder and suicide of women in the country to be the restrictions imposed on women by the change of the system.

Mina Rafiq, a human rights activist, says: “The rights of women in Afghanistan should be given to them, the right to work, education, etc. So that they have the right to decide on themselves, on their lives, on their existence, on their education, on their own eating and all.”

However, a number of analysts and women’s rights activists consider social factors to be effective in increasing murder and suicide of women and say that dissatisfaction with the state of a society causes an increase in murder and suicide.

In this regard, Nabi Ahmadi, an analyst of social issues, said: “Economic factors, social factors, psychological factors, political factors and many factors cause this. Most of the time it happens, we are not satisfied with the situation and when we look at the ideal situation, we are disappointed to reach the ideal situation.”

Zainab Rezaei, an activist for women’s rights, says: “Poverty in families, unemployment of women, prohibition of women’s work and education, and the fact that they are forced to marry someone they don’t want, are many reasons among people that cause young people, especially women become more desperate day by day and commit suicide.”

Despite all this, the officials of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of the caretaker government say that in the second quarter of this year alone, they have registered 514 cases of murder of men and women.

Basmullah Habib, the deputy spokesman of the ministry, told Salam Vatandar that 580 people were arrested on charges of involvement in these murders, and 171 others escaped.

He added: “There are 158 cases under investigation. Out of this number, 43% are due to self-inflicted murders, 36% are family disputes, 7% are honor killings, 30% are due to verbal arguments, 30% are theft, 2% are due to legal disputes, 1% are due to mental problems, and 4% are due to murders. The factors are unknown.”
