Analysts see the UN falling to ensure global peace

KABUL (SW) – Analysts see the UN failing in securing peace and human rights amid raging wars and gross violations of liberties worldwide.

Simultaneously with the continuation of the war between Palestine and Israel and the war between Russia and Ukraine, Antonio Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations, on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the establishment of this organization, has called for the unity of all countries.

In a message, Antonio Guterres said: “The United Nations Charter, which came into force 78 years ago today, is rooted in our spirit to eliminate differences, restore relations and create peace. We are a divided world, we can and must be a united nations.”

The Secretary General of the United Nations has called for the unity of the countries of the world while more than two years have passed since the war between Russia and Ukraine and this war is still going on. Since two weeks, the fierce war between Israel and Palestine has also intensified, and two weeks have passed since the end of the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

However, experts in international relations, pointing to the current wars between a number of countries and clear violations of human rights in most countries, say that the United Nations has failed in advancing its most basic goals, such as securing peace, securing human rights and preventing war. They believe the policies of this organization are affected by interests. superpower countries.

Abdul Jabbar Akbari, an expert on international relations, says that the United Nations has not been able to properly implement its executive stance and maintain its credibility even if there was no tension between the countries.

On the other hand, Abdulwahid Hakimi, another expert on international relations, believes that the United Nations must behave impartially and fairly in order to achieve its goals.

“The structure of the United Nations is an old structure and does not conform to the current structure of our world. An organization or institution can solve the problems of the world that is completely neutral. It cannot solve problems as long as it is in the fight or is involved in politics.”

Mr. Hakimi adds that the United Nations should not be satisfied only with announcements, but it needs to take action to ensure peace. “The structure of the united organization must change. The Security Council only includes superpower countries, which only has the right to make decisions, while in the case of a country’s problems, it must take the solution from that country.”

The United Nations was established on October 24, 1945, after the World War II, in order to ensure global security, prevent war and ensure human rights.
