KABUL (SW) – Hayatullah Mohajer Farahi, Deputy Minister of Information and Culture Ministry, has said that during the last two years, 4,200 foreign tourists have visited Afghanistan.
Wednesday, September 27 was the World Tourism Day. Officials at the Ministry of Information and Culture celebrated this day in a program at Darul Aman Palace in Kabul.
The deputy of publishing affairs of the Ministry of Information and Culture added that in order to make it easier for tourists, it is planned to build hotels of international standards in the resorts of Ghor, Paktia, Kapisa and Nuristan provinces.
He emphasized: “After the rule of the Islamic Emirate, 4,200 foreign tourists who are nationals of different countries have visited different parts of the country and this number is increasing day by day.”
On the other hand, Khairullah Khah, Acting Minister of Information and Culture, said in this program the visit of foreign tourists to the sights of Afghanistan is beneficial for the growth of the country’s economy.
He aadded “Foreign tourists are those who come to Afghanistan like guests, and they should treat the people with them with good manners, and tourists make them show the real face of Afghanistan to the people, and also cause the country’s economic growth.”
Meanwhile, Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai, the political deputy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who was present in this program, urged foreign tourists and citizens of neighboring countries and the region to visit the historical places of Afghanistan.
He said: “Afghanistan has important hhistoric places and these historical sites have a special attraction for foreign and domestic tourists. We want the citizens of the neighboring countries and the region to travel to Afghanistan and enjoy the historical places and weather of our country.”
The officials of the Ministry of Information and Culture aadded hat they are working on a plan for the growth of the tourism industry in Band Amir Dam in Bamyan, with the cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock.
