Stanekzai reiterates support for girls’ education

KABUL (SW) – The political deputy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that the current government of the Islamic Emirate must establish justice for its sustainability and reopen the doors of schools and universities for girls and women.

Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanakzai told a scientific and research seminar titled “Women’s role in Khair al-Qaroon” in Kabul on Wednesday the Islamic Emirate must establish justice for its survival and respect merit.

At the same time, while speaking at the scientific and research seminar, he also said that in order to promote the system, the current caretaker government should approve the constitution and manage the governance affairs based on it. He said: “The Qur’an and Sharia allow women to study and the first verse of the Qur’an also refers to reading. It is the duty of rulers to provide education and work for women.”

Also, Director of the National Examinations Agency, Abdul Baqi Haqqani, said in this seminar that women have the right to work and social activities, but according to him, due to the existing incompetence, no solution has been made. He said: “Women can become doctors, they can become businessmen and even judges who can work in judicial fields, and these sciences are taught in universities, and Islam and scholars do not disagree in this regard.”

It is worth noting that since the rule of the Islamic Emirate, schools for girls above the sixth grade have been closed. In addition to this, female students have been removed from their studies in the university and have faced various restrictions in the past two years, along with preventing them from working.
