SHARANA (SW) – A number of residents of Paktika demand urban development in the center of Sharana and the transition of the city to a modern form.
Residents of the Sharana city and a number of businessmen in this city say that the facilities that a city should have are not visible here.
Akbar, a resident of Sharana, told Salam Watandar that the lack of development of the city, the lack of housing, entertainment and towns has caused the city to remain in its old form. He also added that the government should help to develop the city and provide facilities, according to which, the revenue of the municipality will increase significantly.
He said: “This is just like a market with three or four streets. Until now, our municipality has focused on these three streets only. They have not gone in different directions. There are no towns here. There are no places where people from other provinces come here for entertainment. We have many other problems in the city, we have a problem with electricity and water, but now only the mayor has passed the same pipe, there is also a problem with water in the markets and there are many other problems.”
At the same time, another resident of Sharana, Inayatullah, called on the caretaker government to pay attention to the reconstruction of the said city.
He said: “The city has been neglected in the past either due to the weakness of the leaders or the instability of the government, so we request the Islamic Emirate to pay special attention to the urban city. Roads, culverts and ditches should not be enough to fill them.”
On the other hand, the officials said that they have implemented 90 percent of the master plan of the center city and have also made a development plan for the development of the city.
The mayor of Sharan, Mohammad Nasser Hilal, told Salam Watandar that he is working to provide facilities for the citizens and will address their problems and requests. He said, “We also have an expansion plan, which includes the expansion of the city. Of course, for this reason, we have also talked to the center for the development of both directions of the city. Like Ghazni and Gardez, we have markets, residential areas, and commercial markets that will be worked on, God willing.”
The new governor of Paktika, Faisalullah Jamal, promised in an interview with Salam Watandar some time ago that he will solve the electricity problem of the people of Paktika. He said that first of all, he will either connect imported electricity to Paktika or provide it with electricity from another source.
