Muttaqi holds talks with visiting Iranian delegation

KABUL (SW) – Amir Khan Muttaqi, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate, had a conversation with the seven-member delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s House of Representatives, headed by Javad Karimi Qudousi, in Kabul.

Zia Ahmad Takal, Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced the meeting of Amir Khan Muttaqi with the Iranian delegation by broadcasting a newsletter on the X social media network.

In this meeting, there was discussion and exchange of views about security, fight against drugs, prevention of smuggling, protection of borders and trade, he said.

In this meeting, Amir Khan Muttaqi said that security has been fully established in Afghanistan and that the security forces have been able to eliminate terrorist phenomena, including ISIS, in this country. According to him, national security in the country is not only for the benefit of Afghanistan, but also for the benefit of the region and the world.

Muttaqi added that the Islamic Emirate has taken effective measures to fight against narcotics and poppy planting has almost reached zero.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that during the previous period of the Islamic Emirate’s rule, there were only thousands of drug addicts in Afghanistan, but in the last 20 years, this figure has reached four million. According to him, now, tens of thousands of drug addicts have been treated and this process continues.

Muttaqi has stated that the Iranian delegation, in addition to raising the issue of trade and transit with the countries of the region, including neighboring countries, has also raised the issue of preventing drug trafficking and managing border problems.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs also said that Afghanistan has now become the center of communication between countries. “Afghanistan is a good market for Iran’s industrial goods. Therefore, it is necessary for Afghanistan and Iran to create more facilities in the field of trade and transit and make the most of this opportunity.”

In this meeting, the Iranian delegation added that Iran is ready to share its experiences with the Islamic Emirate in many cases.
