Journalists in Paktika reaching out to needy via ‘Khabarial Welfare Foundation’

SHARANA (SW) – Although journalists in the country are facing many economic and other problems, the local journalists of Paktika have established ‘Khabarial Welfare Foundation to reach out to the poor people and support them.

This charitable foundation helps the poor in many ways and has also created small businesses for them.

The head of this foundation, Abdul Bari Naimi, told Salam Watandar that he has created this foundation to provide the needy with work land in addition to collecting aid for the poor.
He said: “With the poverty faced by the people of remote areas of Paktika, journalists can understand their situation better than others. We publish a report or a video on the situation, so those who want to help them can provide food, cash, or small businesses to the poor.”

Jamal Khan is one of the local a persons who has been provided with a small business by the charity foundation.

He, whose wife is disabled and has two children, told Salam Watandar that due to extreme poverty, he forced his younger son to polish shoes in the city, but according to him, now he is being cared for by the foundation in Sharana. He said: “My family had many problems before, these people of the foundation helped me a lot. This house was built for me by this charity foundation, and the building of the house was also supported by this charity foundation. Now we are satisfied with God and we are praying for everyone.”

Abdul Majeed is also one of those people whose poverty made life bitter and his family’s economic situation was bad. He says that when he returned to the country after a long journey, he was facing many economic problems. After that, he established a small shop in the center of Sharana with the help of Khabarial Foundation and now he provides support for his family through this means.

He said: “I spent a lot of time as laborer abroad. I faced many problems here, but now the journalist charity foundation has helped me a lot. It is the cooperation of these people that I am sitting where I am today or I am earning a living for my children. They helped me a lot through the Khabarial Welfare Foundation, through which I am now earning a livelihood for my children.”

The officials of the Paktika department of information and culture welcome this step taken by the journalists. Director of information and culture of Paktika, Amin Huzaifa, also wants other citizens to reach out to the poor people. He said: “All I can say about the Khabarial Welfare Foundation is that it is a good work. We appreciate it. We know that Paktika is a suffering province and we hope that other journalists and people will come and serve Paktika people. We are grateful to him.”

According to the officials of Khabarial Welfare Foundation, various grants of around 18 million afghanis have been distributed to the deserving families and job opportunities have been created for many in need in Paktika.
