KABUL (SW) – Simultaneously with the creation of the economic advisory board by the deputy prime minister of the Islamic Emirate, a number of economic experts say that the creation of this board is not beneficial for the economic development of Afghanistan.
They added that creating an economic advisory board without strategic goals will not have a favorable result. As per the official ruling, the economic advisory board will consist of university professors, experts in economic issues, businessmen and industrialists who will provide necessary advice to the government if needed.
Asif Nang, an expert on economic issues, told Salam Watandar that the economic advisory board is created for the purpose of arranging perspectives in a government system “… or to the economic sector where you specify the goals and these goals should lead you to a destination. We still don’t know what the Islamic Emirate’s economic outlook is and where it wants to take Afghanistan economically.”
Seyed Ahmad Masoud, another expert on economic issues, said that the creation of the economic advisory board is not a new thing and that this board does not have a special authority to implement the governance plan. He added: “The Supreme Economic Council is not a directive or a guide for any matter in the government, and if special authority is given to them, there will be interference in the work of other departments.”
Officials at the Ministry of Economy consider the establishment of an economic advisory board to be effective in the growth of Afghanistan’s economy and say that this board is supposed to advise the government on important economic issues.
Abdulrahman Habib, the spokesman of the Ministry of Economy, said: “This board is supposed to advise the Islamic Emirate on important economic issues, and university professors, economic experts, and representatives of businessmen and industrialists will be members of this board.”
