Islamic Emirate urges Pakistan,Tajikistan to promote ties

KABUL (SW) – The Islamic Emirate has once again rejected concerns by Pakistan and Tajikistan about security threats emerging from Afghanistan.

Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif said yesterday in his meeting with Tajikistan’s Defense Minister Sher Ali Mirzov that Pakistan and Tajikistan face the same security threats due to their proximity to Afghanistan.

A day after these statements of the Minister of Defense of Pakistan, the Islamic Emirate called this claim of Pakistan baseless and said that from the territory of Afghanistan there is no threat to any country.

Bilal Karimi, one of the deputy spokespersons of the Islamic Emirate, said: “Instead of raising unfounded and undocumented concerns, work on expanding diplomatic, trade and economic relations in order to establish stability in the region and resolve concerns. The Islamic Emirate has repeatedly said that Afghanistan is safe and there is no threat to other countries from its territory.”

Pakistan’s defense minister has also said that issues related to Afghanistan should be resolved peacefully.

However, a number of military experts do not consider the concern of neighboring countries, especially Pakistan, about security threats to be serious.

Asadullah Nadeem, an expert on military issues, said: “Pakistan wants to show the world that it is not involved in the affairs of Afghanistan and is suffering from this area. In fact, Pakistan is clearly hypocritical and trying to deceive public opinion and the world.”

Sadiq Shenwari, another expert on military issues, said that Pakistan is trying to secure its interests in Afghanistan with such comments. He aadded “Pakistan has always followed a dual policy towards Afghanistan and now it is taking advantage of this issue politically and economically, as if the security situation in Afghanistan is bad and it is a threat to Pakistan in order to attract the attention of the countries in the region and to avoid political isolation.”

Pakistani officials have previously attributed the country’s insecurities to Afghanistan and claimed that the Islamic Emirate has sheltered members of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and that members of this group launch attacks in Pakistan from Afghanistan. This has always been rejected by the Islamic Emirate.
