KABUL (SW) – Following the decision of the government of the Islamic Emirate to suspend the activities of all Swedish aid institutions in Afghanistan in protest of the burning of a copy of the Holy Quran, we have analysed the activities of the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan in this report.
The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan is one of the most important foreign aid institutions in Afghanistan, which operates in various sectors in 14 provinces. Providing health services to the people is one of the most important activities of the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan.
According to the information published on the website of this committee, 1.7 million people in Afghanistan have received medical services from the health centers related to this organization during 2021.
Education is another part of the activities of the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan, which has provided education for 104,000 people, 59% of whom are girls, in 2021.
Similarly, this committee announced on its website that it has provided educational services and other support to 42,000 children with disabilities and 88,000 others in the villages of Afghanistan.
Besides this, the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan has implemented many development projects worth millions of afghanis.
Officials in the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan assured Salam Watandar to provide more details about this decision of the Islamic Emirate and the effects of stopping the activities of this committee in Afghanistan, but until the time of writing this report, the explanation of this committee did not reach us.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Emirate says that its activities in Afghanistan will be stopped until Sweden apologizes to Muslims for burning a copy of the Holy Quran.
Bilal Karimi, one of the deputy spokespersons of the Islamic Emirate, told Salam Watandar in this regard: “Until the country of Sweden apologizes to Muslims for this evil act, the Islamic Emirate orders the cessation of all activities of the country of Sweden in Afghanistan.”
It should be mentioned that the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan has nearly 6,000 official employees, and if the activity of this committee is stopped, what will happen to this number of employees of this organization is not yet clear.
