Measles outbreak goes unchecked in Parwan

CHARIKAR (SW) – Shazia is a mother whose two young children have been infected with measles and have been admitted to Parwan’s 100-bed specialized hospital for several days now.

Taking care of her 10-month-old and three-year-old children, she said that this disease has spread to her children from the neighbors, and to prevent its spread, they should be vaccinated. According to Shazia, people with measles first cough and then have diarrhea and fever, and finally red spots appear on their skin.

Saher Gul, whose two children have been infected with measles, wants the government to implement the measles vaccination program in the villages to prevent the spread of this disease.

On the other hand, Aziz Agha Azizi, a professor at the medical university, stated that one of the reasons for the increase in the incidence of measles in children is the lack of vaccination in remote areas. He said that non-observance of hygiene measures is another factor in the spread of this disease.

Meanwhile, Abdul Khalil Heydari, head of Parwan’s 100-bed specialized hospital, in an interview with Salam Watandar, confirmed an unprecedented increase in children suffering from measles in the past two months in this province. The head of Parwan’s 100-bed specialized hospital added that if the number of children with measles increases, they will face a shortage of beds and the process of providing medical services will be disrupted.

Mr. Heydari considers the most important reason for the increase in measles in Parwan to be the lack of proper vaccination and asked the public health department of this province to prevent the spread of this disease by properly applying the vaccine.

According to health experts, if the authorities do not start the nationwide campaign to implement the measles vaccine in this province and the people do not pay attention to the health recommendations, this disease will spread more and the consequences will be disastrous.
