KABUL (SW) – China has reiterated its stance for supporting a ‘moderate and reasonable’ government in Afghanistan.

At the same time as the fourth meeting of the foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries takes place, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China issued a statement saying that China’s position towards Afghanistan is based on supporting a moderate and reasonable government in Afghanistan and that the Kabul government must fulfill its obligations. .

In this announcement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China has made the support of the Islamic Emirate conditional on the government’s fight against terrorist elements such as the East Turkestan Islamic Movement, which is a described as a threat to China, Afghanistan and the region.

The declaration states: “East Turkestan Islamic Movement forces stationed in Afghanistan are a terrorist organization and a serious threat to the security of China, Afghanistan and the region. China expects Afghanistan to fulfill its obligations seriously and by adopting more effective measures to target all terrorist organizations, including the East Turkestan Islamic Movement, and protect the security of its citizens, institutions, and projects of other countries, including China”.

Meanwhile, Bilal Karimi, one of the deputy spokespersons of the Islamic Emirate, told Salam Watandar that no country, including China, is threatened by Afghanistan. “Not only China, but no other country should be worried about Afghanistan’s soil. The Islamic Emirate has the entire territory of Afghanistan under its control, and there is no threat from this country to any other country, nor does the Islamic Emirate allow it. The Islamic Emirate seeks to eradicate all existing problems and concerns.”

On the other hand, Yar Mohammad Bagheri, a political science expert, believes that China is trying to prevent terrorism from Afghanistan from being a threat to this country. “All of China’s efforts are to ensure that Afghanistan, as a neighboring country, does not become a nest for terrorism and the export of terrorists. As stated in the announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, China claims that Afghanistan threatens China’s national security. Similarly, Pakistan is deeply concerned about the spread of terrorism from the territory of Afghanistan to the interior of this country.”

Mahmoud Aztarabi, an expert on international relations, said that the world is divided into two blocs on the issue of Afghanistan and that China is trying to create a new world order under the leadership of Beijing. “China, Russia, and everyone have come to an agreement that a system should be established in Afghanistan that is far from the reach and influence of the West. China’s position is different from America’s position. With a softer and more veiled policy, China is trying to gain global influence. It moves slowly and continuously, which follows the same plan of changing the world order. The issue of recognition is the agreement on a number of pillars of China and Russia’s national interests, in which there is not enough trust.”

However, Jalil Amini, a political researcher, said that China has serious concerns about the existence of extremist groups with ethnic and ideological support in Central Asia and Afghanistan. “In fact, these same extremist groups, in total, in the region, which includes the extremist separatist groups of Xinjiang, the Furqan people from the Furqan Valley, and even the extremist groups that exist in Pakistan. The countries of the region are worried that the core of the problem is Afghanistan, and the next concern for China is actually ethnic support because of their identity and history, which China relates to Central Asia and, in a way, to Afghanistan.”
