Afghanistan’s neighbours call for inclusive government in Kabul

MONITORING (SW) – The foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries, including Russia, have emphasized in a joint statement the importance of creating an inclusive and comprehensive governance system in Afghanistan that reflects the interests of all the people of this country.

In the joint statement of the Foreign Ministers of China, Iran, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the Islamic Emirate was asked to respect basic human rights, including respect the rights of all ethnic groups, women and children.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan has also said that in the fourth meeting of the foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries in Samarkand, there was a discussion about the current conditions in Afghanistan, the creation of inclusive government, providing work and education opportunities for women and guaranteeing the rights of minorities.

In this meeting, the foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries called the security situation in Afghanistan dire and said that they will strengthen cooperation to fight terrorism and security and develop a united front against terrorism.

In the joint statement of the foreign ministers of these countries, it is stated that all terrorist groups based in Afghanistan, including ISIS, Al-Qaeda and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, are serious threats to the security of the region and the world.

The participants of the fourth meeting of foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries emphasized the importance of fighting against the threat of drugs and demanded support for the development of alternative programs for drug cultivation and the fight against drug production and trafficking.

It is stated in the statement that in this meeting, the foreign ministers expressed their concern about the humanitarian situation and the dire economic situation in Afghanistan and declared their readiness to support the economic reconstruction of Afghanistan and the continuation of humanitarian aid to the people of this country. They also called the role of the United Nations in providing humanitarian aid to Afghanistan as key and asked the international community to increase emergency humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan.

The fourth meeting of foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries was held in the city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Amir Khan Muttaqi, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, also went to Samarkand to participate in this meeting.
