Daesh claims responsibility for killing Balkh governor

KABUL (SW) – The Daesh group has taken responsibility for the deadly attack on the office of Mohammad Dawood Muzamal, the governor of Balkh province.

The Amaq propaganda website affiliated with the Daesh group announced that the suicide attack was carried out by this group on Thursday at the office of the governor of Balkh. According to the group, the attacker’s name was “Abd al-Haq al-Khorasani” and he had reached the Balkh governor’s office after passing through the security barriers.

It should be mentioned that in the suicide attack, Mohammad Dawood Mozmal, the governor of this province, and two civilians were killed and two others were injured.

Mohammad Asif Waziri, the spokesman of the Balkh Police Command, said that the attacker had already reached to the provincial office with a vest full of explosive materials, and when Mr. Muzamal arrived, he detonated the explosive materials.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, called this attack as the work of “enemies of Islam” on his Twitter and announced the beginning of the investigation.

Mohammad Dawood Muzamal is the highest official of the Islamic Emirate who got killed in an attack by the Daesh since the Islamic Emirate took back charge in Kabul.
