KABUL (SW) – Mutlaq bin Majid Al Qahtani, the special representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar for the fight against terrorism and mediation in conflict resolution, has met with top Islamic Emirate leaders in Kabul on Monday.

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the meeting of Al-Qahtani with Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Amir Khan Motaghi, Acting Minister of Interior Sirajuddin Haqqani, Acting Minister of Education Habibullah Agha and intelligence chief Abdul Haq Waseeq. In these meetings, the special representative of Qatar emphasised on respecting the right of girls to education and women’s work.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan said in a statement that Qatar’s special representative discussed political harmony and strengthening bilateral relations in a meeting with Amir Khan Mutaqqi, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Akram Arefi, a professor at the university, said that the visit of the special representative of Qatar will gradually be effective in reviewing the recent decisions of the Islamic Emirate. “There is not much hope of changing this decision, but it affects relatively and little by little. Qatar is a country that is the mediator of peace talks and has influence over the Islamic Emirate. But the Islamic Emirate is based on Sharia and cannot be changed by a political trip, but it can have an impact step by step.”

Likewise, Mahboob Mohaq, an expert on international issues, said that due to the history of Qatar’s relations with the Islamic Emirate, the trip of the country’s special representative can be a hope for the Islamic Emirate’s recent decisions to be reviewed.

“The trip of Qatar’s special representative to Afghanistan can be one of the most important trips from my point of view. Because Qatar has a long history of cooperation with the Islamic Emirate. The beginning of Qatar’s relations and cooperation with the Islamic Emirate is the opening of their office in Qatar and the recognition of the Islamic Emirate movement. Qatar is the successor of Saudi Arabia in cooperation with Islamic movements, and this can affect the decision of the Islamic Emirate.”

On the other hand, Mahmoud Aztarabi, an expert on international politics, said that the visit of Qatar’s special representative to Afghanistan is an example of increasing pressure on the Islamic Emirate. “With each passing day, diplomatic pressure is exerted on the Islamic Emirate, and the result of these pressures is the closing of the embassy of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The delegation that came to Kabul from Qatar shows that the global pressure has accelerated. On the other hand, the Deputy Minister of Higher Education has hinted about the work flow to reopen universities for girls”.

It should be noted that Qatar and the Islamic Emirate have long-standing good relations, and the peace agreement between the United States and the Islamic Emirate was also signed in Doha. Qatar hosted the Afghan peace talks for nearly two years.
