KABUL (SW) – Following the increase in terrorist attacks in Pakistan and the attack on a mosque in Peshawar which left more than 300 dead and injured, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif, in an important meeting with the country’s political and security officials in Khyber Pashtun Khwa province, asked the leadership of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan to cooperate in order to curb Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

In a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, it has been decided to discuss the issue of terrorism with the leadership of the Islamic Emirate with the message that Pakistan will not tolerate cross-border terrorism.

Meanwhile, Nazir Ahmad Razaqi, an expert on international issues, told Salam Watandar that Pakistan seeks to attract international aid by projecting the issue of terrorism.

“For Pakistan, terrorism has been a source of income. In the 90s, Pakistan received billions of dollars from the international community. Pakistan is facing serious economic problems and is lobbying for global economic aid again.”

On the other hand, Shamshad Aziz Kazemi, a researcher on strategic issues and national security, said that Pakistan was looking at strategic assets before the establishment of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan. “Before the establishment of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan, Pakistan looked at the Islamic Emirate as a strategic asset, and their predictions turned out to be wrong. The countries of the region want the Islamic Emirate to make a commitment to fight against terrorist groups”.

On the other hand, Salman Mansoor, a researcher on military and intelligence issues, said that the recent pressures on Pakistan has forced this country to ask for cooperation and warning to the Islamic Emirate at the same time.

“The explosion in Pakistan’s mosque and the arrival of Afghan weapons and equipment from Pakistan have caused their concerns”.

However, Seyyed Zakrullah Hashemi, political analyst, said that the Islamic Emirate is fighting terrorism after gaining power in Afghanistan. “Pakistani Taliban or opponents of the Pakistani government do not need to come to Afghanistan. This place is neither good economy nor the equipment they use. They are fighting in Pakistan against the oppression and corruption of the Pakistani government. In the last 16 months, the Islamic Emirate has proved to the world that it is fighting against ISIS and terror.”
