MAZAR-E-SHARIF (SW) – Authorities in Balkh have confirmed that a leading local doctor has been killed by Unknown assailants in the provincial capital, Mazar-e-Sharif.
Mohammad Asif Waziri, the spokesman of the Balkh Security Command, said that late in the evening on Wednesday, unknown gunmen shot Asadullah Shariq, one of the famous specialist doctors of this province, while he was on his way to his home from duty, in the 7th security district of Mazar-e-Sharif city.
The spokesperson of the Balkh Security Command adds that Mr. Shariq’s driver was injured in this incident.
According to Mr. Waziri, the incident is being pursued by the police and the security forces of the Islamic Emirate are trying to arrest the perpetrators of this incident and hand them over to the law.
Asadullah Sharq was one of the general surgery doctors in Balkh who served in medical departments for many years.
No person or group has yet claimed responsibility for his assassination.
