KABUL (SW) –  Officials at the Sarai Shahzade money changers union say that the smuggling of dollars abroad has increased compared to four months ago.

Abdul Rahman Zirak, the spokesperson of this union, told Salam Watandar that smuggling of dollars has increased compared to four months ago, and if it is not stopped, it can affect the price of foodstuffs and the value of the afghani currency in the country’s markets.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior Affairs says that in the past year, it has largely prevented the smuggling of dollars out of the country.

Basmullah Habib, the deputy spokesman of the ministry, says: “The Islamic Emirate has prevented the smuggling of money out of the country for the past year and does not allow anyone to smuggle dollars out of the country.”

He added that border forces of the Islamic Emirate have arrested a number of people who were trying to smuggle dollars out of the country in the past few months.

It should be mentioned that with the establishment of the Islamic Emirate, the value of the afghani against foreign currencies, especially the dollar, has decreased drastically.
