Misbehaviour of the Islamic Emirate forces sparks concerns

KABUL (SW) – John Sopko, the head of the United States Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR), has recently said that women are mistreated in this country because of the lack of professional police in Afghanistan.

John Sopko, who gave a speech at a meeting in Italy and the text of which was circulated on Twitter, accused the forces of the Islamic Emirate of wrongly treating women and girls on the roads and said that most of these forces’ treatment is arbitrary.

Across Afghanistan, the citizens also complained about the improper treatment of the Islamic Emirate forces on the highways and at the checkpoints and told Salam Watandar that they treat the citizens in an unprofessional manner.

Liaqat, a resident of Kabul, said: “In terms of security, their Mujahideen’s treatment of the people is not correct. They disturb people, which causes them discomfort and this causes distance with people. They should be taught properly.”

Bashir Ahmad, another resident of Kabul, said: “During the inspections, they do not treat people properly. Many times we see that because of a misunderstanding, they have killed people. We ask the government to pay attention to this issue and appoint professional people in their place.”

In the same way, Zabihullah, a resident of Nangarhar, complained that most of the forces of the Islamic Emirate move around in the cities in private clothes. “This has made it difficult for the people to distinguish between responsible security forces and irresponsible armed people.

He adds: “There is no difference between the thieves and the forces of the Islamic Emirate. Everyone has a beard, wears a hat and carries a gun. No one knows whether it is the Emirate’s forces or others.”

However, the officials of the Ministry of Interior Affairs say that all their forces have been given professional training and the people are satisfied with their behavior.

Basmullah Habib, the deputy spokesperson of this ministry, told Salam Watandar that all the forces related to the Ministry of Interior have been entrusted with the responsibility of preventing irresponsible armed people from roaming in the cities and collecting their weapons.

He added: “The police are being strengthened day by day and there are no complaints against them. The leadership of the ministry has directed all the policemen to stop people who are armed in the cities and also to collect their weapons”.

It should be mentioned that the Islamic Emirate has started the process of distributing special uniforms to its forces in Kabul city and a number of highways. According to officials, all government security forces will soon have uniforms.
